Company History

Newburyport Towing Service and Expert Auto & Truck Services were founded in 1983 by Walter and Kim Lowell. They brought experience and enthusiasm to the new companies, Walter as an ASE certified auto and truck mechanic and towing service manager and Kim with a business degree from UNH and experience managing a family business.

Originally the repair shop and one tow storage lot were located in Amesbury behind the U.S. Post Office. Additional tow storage lots were located on both Merrimac and Water Streets in Newburyport. In 1986, our landlord in Amesbury sold the property and as the revitalization of Newburyport expanded eliminating those tow lots, we needed to relocate all our operations. We built our current facility on South Hunt Road in Amesbury and consolidated into our current location.

As industry advocates, we have been actively involved in the towing and repair industry associations serving in various positions on association boards including Kim as President of Statewide Towing Association of Massachusetts and Walter as Chairman of the Greater Merrimack Valley Repair Education Council.

We truly are a family business with parents, sisters, cousins, and children all pitching in at one time or another. Each has contributed their unique perspective and expertise to the company and helped us fulfill our vision. We are truly blessed and grateful for their unwavering commitment. Joining the family business in 2011, our son, Benjamin brings his youth, passion, forward thinking marketing and business innovations to the company. Ben is constantly researching new service ideas and challenging the norm in pursuit of Über customer service.

Over the years, we have strived for excellence in service by investing in education, equipment and technology to meet the ever changing needs and desires of the driving public. As we start our 30th year of business, we would like to thank all our customers, friends, family, community and vendors for their support and we look forward to working with you in the future.
